Sorry, My Wife Has a Hole in Her Brain Chapter 25 Part 2

"What's wrong? Are you tired?" Su Wenqing stopped her cheerful steps, turned back and smiled brightly.

Xie Shian pointed to the Hongluan Tower with six-cornered eaves by the Huai River and said, "Do you want to see the panoramic view of Anjing City under the moonlight? You can see it from there."

Su Wenqing's eyes lit up. "Can we go? I heard that the top floor of Hongluan Tower is not open to outsiders."

Xie Shian smiled and said, "It's okay, as long as it’s not an outsider."

Su Wenqing blinked in confusion, until Xie Shian told her that the owner of Hongluan Tower was the fifth prince, Xiao Yun, Su Wenqing finally understood.

Oh, not an outsider.

From the railing on the top floor of Hongluan Tower, one could see the entire Anjing City. It was the first time that Su Wenqing overlooked the night scene of the ancient capital. The candlelight shone through the lantern paper, casting a layer of warm yellow light on the entire capital. The main street in the center was like a dazzling dragon made of bright lights, and laughter was heard everywhere.

Children chasing and playing, couples supporting each other, Su Wenqing looked at the various scenes of life on the street, and suddenly felt a sense of reality. They were all living people, and from now on, she would be one of them.

Su Wenqing touched her frozen ears, walked into the room, sat cross-legged opposite Xie Shian, and without any hesitation took the wine he had just brewed to warm her hands.

"The Fifth Prince really knows how to enjoy himself. Looking at Anjing City from here is indeed a different experience."

Xie Shian raised his chin and motioned Su Wenqing to look out the window.

Su Wenqing turned her head and saw that the candlelight on the Twenty-Four Bridges suddenly dimmed. Countless lotus lanterns drifted down the Huai River. The reflections of the lanterns rippled in the Huai River like the Milky Way.

Xie Shian leaned against the window. He saw the candlelight shining on Su Wenqing's face. Her long eyelashes were as fragile as butterfly wings, and the upturned corners of her mouth made her whole face bright.

Su Wenqing pointed at the lotus lanterns on the Huai River and said, "Isn't that the imperial city upstream?"

Xie Shian poured himself a glass of wine and explained as he drank, "The current emperor is a man who cherishes the past. Every year on the Shangsi Festival, he leads the harem to place lotus lanterns and pray for the late empress."

Su Wenqing remained noncommittal. Being nostalgic was not necessarily a good thing for an emperor. Wasn't the chaos in the Southern Dynasty caused by the emperor being too nostalgic and indecisive?

Moreover, if she remembered correctly, the person who killed the late empress should be the third prince's mother, Consort Shu. The emperor knew it in his heart, but he pretended not to know because he was afraid of the power of Consort Shu's father and brother. The late empress might not want such lotus lanterns.

Xie Shian noticed the flash of disdain on Su Wenqing's face. He smiled. He didn't expect that this little girl knew so much.

"The love of an emperor is different from the love of ordinary people. Why did he ask everyone in the harem to pray for the late empress? It's because he wants those who have done wrong to remember the blood on their hands forever."

Su Wenqing was so frightened that she almost spilled the wine in his hand. "How do you know what I'm thinking?"

Xie Shian smiled warmly, "Next time, remember to put away the contemptuous expression on your face before you say something."

Su Wenqing smiled awkwardly and lowered her head to take a few sips of wine.

Xie Shian changed the subject and said, "But I am very curious, how do you know the secrets of the imperial city?"

Su Wenqing was choked by the wine in her mouth. She knew why Xie Shian, who was a very cautious person, would suddenly say these to her. It turned out that he was waiting to ask her about this thing.

Ai! When people get along with each other, its okay to act a little dumb. If you are a little dumb and I am a little dumb, the boat of friendship will not capsize.

Xie Shian raised his eyebrows, obviously not intending to act like he was stupid.

Su Wenqing had no choice but to put the blame on the Su family. "After all, the Su family has produced concubines. Grandmother usually doesn't avoid us when it comes to matters in the harem."

Xie Shian nodded. There was nothing wrong with this statement. Perhaps it was because Su Wenqing had known about the matters in the harem since she was a child that she was always so nervous?

Su Wenqing felt uneasy when he saw Xie Shian remained silent, but she was afraid of making more and making mistakes, so she could only drink the wine one sip after another.

Xie Shian came back to his senses from his deep thoughts and saw Su Wenqing had drunk a whole bottle of wine by herself. The expression on his face suddenly became very interesting. "You... did you drink it all? Do you feel uncomfortable?"

Su Wenqing's cheeks flushed. She looked at the wine bottle and leaned against the window frame casually. "It's okay, just a little dizzy."

Xie Shian held his forehead in silence. The alcohol content of the Golden Stem Dew was not low, and that bottle of wine was more than 1 liter. He must have met a wine god.

Su Wenqing looked out the window and said, "This location is really good. The lights on both sides of the river suddenly went out, and the lotus lanterns flowed down the river like the Milky Way. I didn’t expect this. You are an expert in eating, drinking and having fun."

When Xie Shian saw Su Wenqing holding a wine jar with rosy cheeks, leaning against the window, his restraint disappeared as he became sober, and a hint of tenderness appeared in his eyes.

"In Anjing City, no one can compare to the Fifth Prince in eating, drinking and having fun. He funded the construction of the Hongluan Tower just for the scenery here."

Su Wenqing turned around and saw the warmth in Xie Shian's eyes that had not yet faded. She sighed silently in her heart. How deep must his love be that such tenderness appears involuntarily in his eyes when mentioning the person he loves.

Su Wenqing didn't want Xie Shian to indulge in this kind of emotion, so she put down the wine bottle and pulled Xie Shian up from the couch, "I saw someone flying sky lanterns downstairs, let's go too."

Xie Shian was dragged by Su Wenqing before he even finished drinking. He pulled her back helplessly and said, "You're going the wrong way. Go down this way. Are you drunk or not?"

By the Huai River, Su Wenqing happily paid the vendor, then stood in the cool night breeze with a dazed look on her face, holding the various bamboo sticks and lantern papers handed to her by the vendor.

Xie Shian leaned on the bridge and burst out laughing.

Su Wenqing turned his head and glanced at Xie Shian and stuffed the materials for making sky lanterns into his arms. "I heard that Young Master Xie knows everything and can do anything. Come on, I'm sure that making a sky lantern is not difficult for you."

Xie Shian's lips curled up into a playful smile, "It's easy to make lanterns, you can learn it right away, but the remuneration needs to be negotiated first."

Su Wenqing gnashed her teeth and whispered, "That meal at Ningxiang Pavilion cost me a hundred taels of silver! A hundred taels isn't enough for you to help me make a lantern?"

Xie Shian raised his eyebrows, "Ningxiang Pavilion?"

Su Wenqing suddenly stopped talking. She looked up at the sky, then down at the ground. When she turned around again, she had an expression like a girl next door. "Xie gege, please help me make a lantern!"

*gege: big brother. Almost equivalent to the word “oppa” in Korean language.
